A film following Niall Horan and Lewis Capaldi’s Irish road trip comes out this week

Fiona Frawley

The film, entitled Niall Horan’s Homecoming: The Road to Mullingar with Lewis Capaldi will air this Sunday.

The documentary by Guinness Ireland following celeb pals Niall Horan and Lewis Capaldi was inspired by Niall’s desire to “revisit and reconnect with all that he loves of home; to retrace the origins of the exciting life journey he’s on and to experience the reality of Ireland today”.

The film will follow the three days the musicians spent between the Mullingar Fleadh and their fabled impromptu busk on Dublin’s Grafton Street over the summer.

On their travels they met world class guitar maker George Lowden, singer Tolu Makay and Dublin busker, Jacob Koopman.

Niall also tells the story of how he first connected with Capaldi, after being introduced to his music by his cousin.

Niall then invited Lewis to open for him at his 2018 ‘Flicker’ tour in Lewis’ hometown of Glasgow.

According to Guinness, the film is a story of friendship and talent while celebrating modern Irish culture through the lens of two stars who have an authentic connection to Ireland.

Homecoming, they say, is a celebration of what it’s like to live in an Ireland simmering with optimistic energy, possibility, momentum, endless inspiration and… chicken fillet rolls.

Catch Homecoming this Sunday at 10pm on Virgin Media One.
