An Oscar-Winning Movie With An All-Star Cast Is On RTÉ Tonight

Take a dash of Christian Bale, a smidge of Ryan Gosling, sprinkle on some Steve Carell and throw in some Brad Pitt for good measure. What have you got? A pretty damn good movie is what.

While the cast of The Big Short features some of the biggest names in Hollywood, it’s also a very entertaining watch. Based on the story of the global financial crisis of 2007/2008, the movie stars Bale as Wall Street guru Michael Burry, Gosling as a Deutsche Bank salesman, Carell as the head of Front Point partners and Pitt as a retired trader.

Also featured are the likes of Marisa Tomei, Margot Robbie and Jeremy Strong, while Selena Gomez even appears as herself in a cameo role.

The Big Short was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 2016 and writers Adam McKay and Charles Randolph took home the prize for Best Adapted Screenplay at the same ceremony.

The movie gets underway tonight at 9.35pm on RTÉ One and is definitely worth a couple of hours of your time.
