Dolly Parton reportedly joining one of our favourite Netflix shows

Dolly Parton is set to appear in one of our favourite shows on Netflix.

There is one universal truth in life: You add Dolly Parton to something and it instantly gets better.

According to reports, Dolly Parton is set to join the cast of hit Netflix comedy Grace & Frankie when it returns for the seventh season.

The series, which began in 2015, stars Jane Fonda (Grace) and Lily Tomlin (Frankie), whose characters strike up an unexpected friendship after their husbands (played by Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston) announce that they plan to marry each other.

Many will remember Fonda, Tomlin and Parton starring alongside each other in the classic 1980 workplace comedy flick 9-5, for which Dolly wrote her smash hit of the same name.

In a recent interview with Lorraine Kelly, Dolly said, “I’ve been trying to do ‘Grace & Frankie’ for years. We worked so well together on ‘9 to 5,’ it’s a crazy wonderful show.

“We’ve been trying to write me in somehow. So when it’s safe for us to actually do a production when they’re back, I’ll probably get around to doing that.”

Last month, Lily Tomlin spoke to US talk show Today about the prospect of working with Dolly again:

“We’re always hoping that will happen. We have a great role for her this time, I think she will do it. I’m just hoping she will.

“She’s extremely busy, she’s always writing books or writing songs. She’s phenomenal.”

Filming for Grace & Frankie’s final season has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic but production is expected to resume in June this year.
