Everyone’s favourite Clare based vegan is releasing a single

Fiona Frawley

If you don’t know Padraig Howley yet, it’s time for you to go on an Insta deep dive.

The Clare based welder made the decision to go vegan earlier this year at the tender age of 67, and documented his journey on Instagram with the help of his daughter. He prepares vegan dishes while treating his followers to a good aul sing song, he taught us how to lilt, and he recreates bizarre Zara photoshoots for our viewing pleasure. Basically, he’s an all rounder.

We learnt from his cooking/sing along vids that Padraig can hold an aul tune, so we’re buzzin’ to hear he’s only gone and recorded his own single.

In a typically adorable post on Insta, Padraig said:

3 weeks ago I recorded my first single in the studio. I have always wanted to record a single and at 68 I did it. I genuinely can’t wait for you all the hear the song. We all smiled throughout the session I was nervous but Very happy with how it came out, it is a fun song and will hopefully put a smile on people’s faces.

The song was written and arranged by his daughter Tara who’s helped him make the transition from welder to insta superstar. Calling it now – shoe in for the Christmas number 1.
