WATCH: The Trailer For The Martin McGuinness And Ian Paisley Movie Looks Brilliant

James Fenton

They spent decades as sworn enemies before light-heartedly being referred to as ‘The Chuckle Brothers’ in later life.

Sinn Fein’s Martin McGuinness and the DUP’s Ian Paisley may not be around to catch this adaptation of their relationship but it’s sure to enthral audiences throughout this island and beyond.

The Journey tells of a fictional meeting between the rival leaders as they aim to bring about peace in Northern Ireland after years of turmoil.

While the meeting is fictional, the main plot is based on true events as an unlikely friendship comes to the fore and changes the course of history.

From seeing the trailer, Colm Meaney and Timothy Spall both appear brilliant in their respective roles as McGuinness and Paisley.

The film is written by Ulsterman Colin Bateman and is  set to be released later this year.

We can’t wait to check it out.
