What d’ya mean Ireland aren’t at the World Cup? Sure doesn’t the captain of one of the semi-finalists hail from Letterfrack, in Co. Galway? Well, his granddad did and, as always when a member of the diaspora is doing well, he’s as Irish as a packet of Tayto in our eyes.
England skipper Harry Kane has led his nation to their first World Cup semi-final since 1990 and the people of Galway certainly aren’t turning their nose up at the chance to take some credit.
A number of Galwegians have been wishing Harry all the best with his Russian exploits and sure lookit if they do end up winning the thing at least we’ll have something to brag about over here…
