Roxanne Pallett has admitted she “got it wrong” following her controversial claims about her Celebrity Big Brother co-star Ryan Thomas.
Ofcom received over 11,000 complaints from the public after the 35-year-old actress accused the Coronation Street star of punching her during a play fight.
The Emmerdale actress has now apologised for her behaviour in her first interview since leaving the CBB house on Jeremy Vine’s Channel 5 show.
She said: “At the time it hurt. But when I looked back on that footage as soon as I left the house – the first thing I did was view that clip – and I got it wrong, I really got it wrong.
“After it happened I just felt like, I don’t know how to explain… my mind ran away with me. I’m a sensitive person, my friends and family can vouch for that, everything in that house was so heightened, a look, a comment, an action.
“I massively apologise to not just Ryan but to his family, his friends, his fans, every single person that watched that…”

“Your insecurities are heightened, your sensitivities, the only thing I can explain is it was, in the moment, it felt worse than it was.”
She added: “I massively apologise to not just Ryan but to his family and friends and his fans and every single person who watched that and completely and justifiably saw an over-reaction to what wasn’t a malicious act.”
No words to describe how proud we are as a family of Ryan. He has handled himself with the upmost respect and dignity in the worst possible situation. We just hope he can get back to being the amazing human being he is. A phenomenal dad, brother, boyfriend and housemate ❤️???? pic.twitter.com/Rdk6h6gu01

Host Jeremy Vine suggested that her allegations could have ended Ryan’s career if the CBB cameras hadn’t filmed the entire incident, though Roxanne defended herself, saying:
“He couldn’t disprove his intention and I couldn’t prove the feeling.”
She added: “My judgement was clouded, my sensitivity heightened and I wasn’t thinking straight. I need to become a better person. I absolutely overreacted. I massively regret it.”
The actress also admitted she had been a victim of domestic abuse in the past and called her reaction “a tell-tale sign of the fact I have been in a situation like that”.
