Although Ireland didn’t feature in this year’s World Cup, Roy Keane has made sure throughout that the Irish presence is felt across the pond.
To say he was delighted that England lost to Croatia the last day is an absolute understatement.
He took great joy in pointing out to ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright and former team-mate at United, Gary Neville, that nothing was coming home and they were foolish to be planning for a final when they hadn’t even overcome the semis.
The video footage of this is the best moment of the World Cup hands down, especially when Keane says in his famous accent to Wrighty that he’s a “grown man” and all poor Wright can do is mock his accent in response.
But the pair are friends off screen still and Ian Wright posted a photo of the two of them after that moment and everybody who commented was actually genuinely shocked.
He got Roy Keane to smile.
Keano, smiling.

Keane’s former Ireland team-mate, Clinton Morrison, chimed in to say that: “To get him smiling, you have done well mate” while others thought the only reason Keane was smiling for that particular photo is because England had just lost.
Personally, we think that smiling lark is just absolute nonsense.
At the end of the day, it’s a disgraceee.
