From Donald Trump’s inane ramblings to the sexual abuse accusations against a multitude of Hollywood stars, it’s fair to say that 2017 has been a pretty tumultuous year on Twitter.
While the site is still crawling with trolls and the atmosphere when scrolling can be quite toxic, the top 10 tweets of the year show that Twitter is still a great platform for bringing the world together.
From natural disasters to acts of terrorism, users pulled together to call for a better world for all and we learned important lessons about racism, the right to protest and erm, chicken nuggets.
TIME Magazine has compiled the 10 most shared tweets of 2017 with number one gathering a massive 3,640,174 retweets at the time of writing. That’s over twice the amount accumulated by the next most popular tweet.
