The evenings are closing in so now we can spend a night in the cinema without the guilt of wasting those precious sunshine hours.
One movie you should definitely check out this autumn is The Lads, an Irish dark comedy which was made on a minuscule budget of €250. Directed by Arklow film maker Ian Adams and featuring a cast of childhood friends, The Lads tells the story of three friends who spend money that belongs to some dangerous gangsters and end up in a situation where they’re fighting for their own survival. Scary, right? But judging by the trailer it’s also gas so that’s good.
Ian describes the movie as a cross between Love/Hate and Dumb and Dumber and it even took home an award at the Reel Film Festival in Cork last year. The great news is, it’s now secured a release at four Omniplex cinemas across Ireland (Arklow, Rathmines, Mahon Point Cork and Limerick) from September 21.
The trailer looks great and you can check it out in full below…
