Before you read or watch any of this, we have to reiterate there will be spoilers here. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
While the second season of Narcos ended with the death of Pablo Escobar, it was very clear that the show was far from over. The last season concluded on a cliffhanger, where agent Javier Peña was drawn back in to help deal with the Cali Cartel.
But without the show’s charismatic villain, a question remained about who would be the next season’s main antagonist. Well now it would seem that we have our answer: El Chapo.
The notorious drug lord has made headlines in recent years for daring prison escapes and an interview with Sean Penn, so he definitely has the charisma chops to be our villain.
Netflix hasn’t officially unveiled the Mexican gangster as the next season’s villain just yet, but this updated version of Narcos‘ opening credits was just posted on its official Facebook page today.
The text accompanying the video says: “We’ll catch up with you, Chapo. In the meantime, taking notes…”. This might imply that El Chapo isn’t appearing in the next season, but potentially in future seasons.
Let the speculation commence…
