These are the seven best movies on TV this rainy Saturday night

The wind has been swirling outside all day and is showing no sign of letting up. That only means it’s a night for the sofa, a bowl of popcorn and some movies on TV.

As the rain bounces off the window tonight, there’s plenty of flicks on offer to enjoy as you cosy up. From brilliant comedies to terrifying horrors to heartbreaking dramas, tonight’s movie on TV have got it all.

Deadpool 2 – Channel 4 – 9pm

A sequel to the the 2016 Marvel movie that leans a lot more on the comedy side than its superhero siblings. Ryan Reynolds stars as the wisecracking title character.

The Girl on the Train – Film4 – 9pm

A 2016 psychological thriller based on the novel of the same name. Emily Blunt stars.

22 Jump Street – RTÉ 2 – 9.30pm

Another sequel that sees Jonah Hill at his adorable best as part of a buddy cop bromance with Channing Tatum. Laughs guaranteed.

Beautiful Boy – BBC 2 – 10pm

Steve Carrell and Timothée Chalamet star in this biographical drama about a father and son dealing with the latter’s addiction.

Watermelon – Virgin Media Three – 1o.20pm

A Dublin woman living in London has to cope when her boyfriend leaves her after she gives birth. Anna Friel stars.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose – Film4 – 11.15pm

If you’re looking for a late night scare as the wind howls outside then this is for you. A supernatural horror evolves into a courtroom drama as priest who performed an exorcism is accused of homicide.

Ghost – Virgin Media One – Midnight

A more romantic take on the supernatural theme. You’ve watched it 100 times and if you’re up past midnight, you’ll watch it again.
