These are the six best movies on TV tonight

Rory Cashin

Friday night means movies night!

Friday night means either The Late Late Show, or The Graham Norton Show, or a movie night in.

If you’re in the mood for the latter, then these are your best options for tonight!

Stan & Ollie – BBC One – 8.25pm

John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan star in this powerful biopic of Stan & Ollie, two of the most well-known comedians of all time, during their last ever tour.

Taken 3 – FilmFour – 9pm

While nobody is actually “taken” in this one, it does have Liam Neeson more-or-less recreating the plot of The Fugitive, going on the run for a murder he didn’t commit, trying to prove his innocence, while also trying to find the bad guys.

The Italian Job – ITV4 – 9pm

The modern re-do sees Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, and Edward Norton in the action-thriller revolving around a group of drivers attempting to pull off a big heist.

2 Guns – Virgin Media One – 9.30pm

Mark Wahlberg again, this time starring with Denzel Washington, in a buddy-cop action movie, as they play two undercover agents who are both blamed for a deal gone wrong.

Me Before You – RTE One – 11.25pm

You’ll need all of the hankies for this weepy rom-dram, with Emilia Clarke as the assistant to a paralysed man, played by Sam Claflin, and the two slowly begin to fall in love.

Witness – BBC One – 12.05am

Harrison Ford stars in this legal thriller, an investigating officer who goes into hiding with a mother and her young son in Amish country, after the boy witnesses a murder.
