A new documentary on Netflix, Jim and Andy: The Great Beyond, is a deep look at over 100 hours of behind-the-scenes footage of Jim Carey as he lived in character as part of his method acting technique to play the role of comedian Andy Kaufman in the 1999 movie Man on the Moon.
The doc shows Jim Carey let the character completely take over his life, even going so far as to wear a paper bag over his head sometimes when he’s not filming.
“Universal didn’t want the footage we took behind the scenes to surface so that people wouldn’t think I’m an asshole”, Carey later said.
