The Guests On The First ‘Late Late Show’ Of The New Series Have Been Revealed

James Fenton

School uniforms, shorter evenings and the return of The Late Late Show. All surefire signs that summer has left us for another year and September has arrived.

RTÉ’s flagship chat show returns this Friday night with Ryan Tubridy returning to the hotseat for what is now his tenth series.

Tubs might need a bigger sofa than usual for the first episode as he will be joined by Ireland’s national women’s hockey team who did us all so proud by reaching the World Cup Final this summer where they eventually succumbed to the Netherlands.

The team provided the sporting story of the summer and penalty shootout victories over India and Spain will live long in the memory of those who witnessed them.

Meanwhile, The Late Late Show has made a callout to the Irish living in the UK to join the audience for a special programme celebrating the special ties between Ireland and Britain and the contribution Irish people have made to British society over the years.

Speaking about the special broadcast, Tubridy said:

We have plenty of tickets but they are limited so we want to make sure that the Irish in Britain get their chance to be part of it. If you are part of that community and have a story to tell, we want to hear from you.

“You might have gone across the Irish Sea to build the underground, or to work as a nurse, or maybe you went to visit friends, found love and never came home.

“Whatever it is, if you have a bit of Irish in you, you are welcome to join us on the night. It is as simple as that. Go to the website, tell us about yourself. We are celebrating all things Irish in Britain and we want you to be there with us.”
