One Of The Worst Irish Movies Ever Is On RTÉ Tonight To Make ‘Storm Ali’ Day Even Worse

Darragh Berry

Storm Ali, what was all that about this morning?

It felt like only last week that we were enjoying the 20 degrees odd weather and tanning ourselves saying ‘Storm Emma, who?’.

Ali left its mark all around Ireland and people are still being advised not to make any unnecessary journeys on Wednesday.

And just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, RTÉ decided to stick this on the telly.

Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie is on Irish television on Wednesday night and it just tops off the miserable day that everyone has had around the country

The movie came out in June 2014 – yup that long ago – and while it has some funny moments (gobble, gobble, nice, nice, give it a rub), most of the movie just seems to play the plot by ear as it goes along.

It is one of the lowest rated movies on Rotten Tomatoes ever, it gets a 7% rating…

It seems to get one star rating all around and Donald Clarke of The Irish Times was one of them saying the film was “overstretched, underwritten, sluggishly paced and unsettled by the discombobulating move from studio to location. The gags are clunky, the dialogue is leaden and the story is threadbare.”

Drop the mic.

But sure look, it’s on television tonight if you’re a fan and if you’re not, you can have it on in the background while you bitch about your day.

D’Movie is on RTE One at 9:35.
