If you love your summer festivals but are getting bored of the usual suspects, we have a recommendation for you.
Offaly’s Bare In The Woods is one of the newer kids on the block but it’s already making a serious impression, and we reckon it’s going to become very popular over the next few years.
Held in the Garryhinch Woods close to the Laois/Offaly border, it used to be a one-day festival but will expand this year to run over three days from 9 to 11 June.

So why is it worth checking out?
First off, there’s the line-up.
This year features House Of Pain, Mike Skinner & Murkage present Tonga, The Correspondents, The Hot Sprockets, New Secret Weapon and Sounds Of System Breakdown – alongside tons of other Irish and international acts.
There’s also a foodie village, art installations and a games arena.
Next, there’s the rave reviews.
Anyone we’ve met who made the trip to BARE has had nothing but good things to say, which is a serious achievement when you’re a new festival. It’s also been named Best One Day Festival for two years running at the Irish Festival Awards. Nuff said.

Then, there’s the location.
Like the wonderful Body & Soul and Knockanstockan before it, BARE is set in a stunning location that really lends itself to a lost weekend. The Garryhinch Woods are set about 6.5kms from Portarlington, which makes it pretty handy to get to.
Anything else? Yep, they support up-and-coming Irish acts and not just by paying lip service either, as they allow musicians to upload an audio or video clip via an app to be in with a chance of joining the line-up. Sound. Find out more here.
Lastly, the tickets are seriously reasonable. A full weekend is €100, a day ticket is €40 and a campervan ticket is €40.
Get on it.
