This New Sustainable Shopping Initiative Is Giving Back To Focus Ireland

Sarah Finnan

Clothes shopping and sustainability seem like two things that shouldn’t go together, and yet 53 Degrees North and Columbia have found a way to make it work.

Hoping to cut down on the percentage of garments that end up in landfill, they have come together to offer customers 20% discount on new season Columbia when they bring in a bag of old clothes to be recycled instore.

All you have to do is fill a bag with some pre-loved bits (from any brand) that you no longer want, pop into one of the Dublin (Blanchardstown and Carrickmines) or Cork (Cornmarket Centre) branches and be on your merry way. Simples.

Donated clothes will then be given to Focus Ireland for their Beloved Boutiques in Malahide in Dublin and Douglas in Cork.

As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

This circular economy helps people to change their habits, encouraging a shift towards reusing, recycling and repurposing…a change that can only have positive effects.

So get recycling you stylish bunch.
