TV Pick – Champions League Takes Centre Stage With Two Huge Games On TV Tonight

James Fenton

We’re very much at the business end of the 2018/2019 Champions League and Irish viewers have the choice of two pivotal quarter-finals tonight.

In the RTÉ corner, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United will look to complete another amazing comeback as they head into their second leg away to Barcelona 1-0 down.

After last month’s dramatic turnaround against PSG, who’s to say the Red Devils can’t pull it out of the bag once more? Their chances will be improved if they manage to keep Lionel Messi relatively quiet like they did last week.

Coverage of the game begins on RTÉ 2 at 7pm with an 8pm kick-off.

Over on Virgin Media One, Ajax will need to keep the imperious Cristiano Ronaldo at bay if they are to overcome Juventus and reach the semi-final. The Portuguese has scored an incredible 41 goals in previous knockout stage matches and his exploits have almost become epic television dramas in themselves.

This one is poised at 1-1 from the first leg and kick-off is at 8pm with coverage beginning on Virgin Media One at 7.30m.
