There’s another Hollywood celeb for Ireland to add to its adoption list

Fiona Frawley

We’ve watched with pride over the last year as Matt Damon, Patrick Dempsey and Elizabeth Banks dove headfirst into life in Ireland.

There’s just nothing like seeing Hollywood celebrities get lashed on during their trip to the Cliffs of Moher or picking up a bag of chips at Leo Burdocks. Which is why we were so excited to Florence Pugh visiting the Hollywood Hills – of Wicklow, that is.

The Midsommar star has just arrived in Ireland to film The Wonder, a Netflix thriller set in Post-Famine Ireland. It’s based on the novel by Emma Donoghue, the author of suspenseful bestseller Room. Florence plays Lib Wright, an English nurse who comes to Ireland to observe a young girl who’s allegedly survived without food for months, and has brought her pupper along for her Irish adventure (who’ll be the first cafe to offer puppacinos on the house?)

Since arriving, Florence has praised our Guinness (dead right) and also mentioned less traffic and more greenery around Hollywood, Wicklow compared to its LA counterpart (she obviously hasn’t had to go through Newlands Cross during rush hour but give it time).

We can’t wait to see where else Florence explores during her time in Ireland, and hope to see her down the Vico with a bag of cans sometime soon.
