Luxury Italian brand Gucci is now selling GAA shorts that cost over 500 quid and we're starting to think that the world has gone mad.
Gucci is now selling shorts that look suspiciously like the Mayo GAA kit and it's pretty clear that Normal People star Paul Mescal is to
blame thank for it.
Earlier this week it was revealed that Paul Mescal won perhaps his most prestigious accolade to date, being dubbed a style icon by men's fashion magazine GQ - giving hope to legions of other Irish men in the process and alerting them to the fact that their year-round county colours uniform could, in fact, now be considered stylish.
An article that appeared in the publication claimed that the actor is "all about that short-shorts summer" and has come to realise that "the thigh is the limit" when choosing a pair of floaty summer shorts. Hilarious stuff altogether but it's even inspired the likes of luxury Italian fashion house Gucci to hop on the bandwagon who have come out with their own GAA shorts... ones that will set you back a hefty €550.
There's no denying that Paul has earned his stripes as a man of good taste - first fans went wild over Connell's chain and now it's his GAA gear, such is the influence of a pair of O'Neill's. Irish fans have been quick to comment on the new designer shorts, with James Kavanagh claiming that the whole affair is "culchie appropriation".

Some also suggested the line should be called 'Ballyhaunis' in honour of Paul's TV acting debut where he appeared in that Denny's ad (if you know, you know... and if you don't know - educate yourself here).

Whether Paul is aware of his pull in the fashion world or not, there's no denying that GAA players have a lot to thank him for. They'll be selling tops with "Mayo for Sam" on them next.
