This food truck in West Cork has everything!

Fiona Frawley

It’s no secret at this stage, we love a good food truck.

And if you’re looking to discover a new one, Ron D’s in Ballydehob Village has it all – an expertise in sourdough, tasty American influence and a gorge family-run vibe.

Liz and Simon are the smiles behind the sambos, and there is such a lovely family feel off this place.

Originally from Cape Cod in Massachusetts, Liz was heavily inspired by her dad Ron’s cooking and food stalls from her home town. The result is loads of tasty donuts, delish cheesy sambos with cured meats on that lovingly baked sourdough, and sweet flaky hand pies.

Ballydehob is also a gorgeous part of the world to sit back and relax with a tasty grilled cheese, so it’s win win! Side note, Ron (who the truck is named after) had some serious style and looks like he could do some great things with a plate of pasta.

Ron D’s is open every Wednesday from 12:30-3, making it the perfect spot for a midweek treat. Keep an eye on their insta too for Sunday evening taco nights, which they’re hoping to make a regular occurrence! We can’t wait to try this place out.
